I want to write about this fashion designer because for me, Jacquemus is the true embodiment of French culture. I don’t want to say French elegance because many other brands would be more appropriate to cite such as Chanel or Yves Saint Laurent. Instead, I would say that it is the embodiment of French magic as its finest.  Jacquemus was founded by Simon Porte Jacquemus in 2009 in memory of the designer’s late mother. From the South of France, Jacquemus was creative from a young age and already constructing his future without knowing it. He moved to Paris to study at the ESMOD or "Ecole supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode" but he never finished his degree. After the death of his mother he decided to make a move on his dream, on his own without any academic or financial support. He decided to let the darkness of grief aside and let the Mediterranean sun in him l shine brightly. His designs are simple yet not uncomplicated. In 2012, he was the youngest designer officially invited to participate in Paris Fashion Week.

Because fashion is an artform, sometimes designs are created in a very intricate and elaborate way. Or, sometimes they seem too basic or too simple. There is a distinction to be made here between fashion as we know it, from an "outfit of the day" type of fashion that is more or less accessible and fashion we see on runaways fitting into both "Haute Couture" and "Pret-a-porter" categories.

Here is my love letter to this brand I admire so much.
